Terms & Conditions

1. Who we are

ZettelkastenAI ("we", "us") makes an Obsidian plugin that lets you chat with your vault, and operates the website zettelkasten-ai.com. By installing the plugin, creating an account, or using the website, you agree to these terms. For anything related to them, contact tarasov.slavas2002@gmail.com.

2. What the service is

The plugin indexes your Obsidian vault locally and lets an AI model read, write, and edit notes on your instruction. You can run it free with your own key or self-hosted endpoint, or on a paid subscription where we route requests to a hosted model (currently GLM 5.2 by Z.ai) so there's nothing to configure.

3. Accounts

• You're responsible for keeping access to your email and account secure.
• You must give accurate information at sign-up and keep it current.
• Accounts are for your own use; don't share credentials or resell access.

4. Acceptable use

You agree not to:

• use the service in a way that breaks the law or infringes anyone's rights;
• violate the terms of the AI providers the plugin connects to (e.g. Z.ai or Anthropic);
• attempt to bypass usage limits, quotas, or billing, or share a single subscription across many people;
• disrupt, overload, reverse-engineer for malicious purposes, or probe our backend for vulnerabilities without permission;
• resell, sublicense, or present the service as your own product.

5. Subscriptions, billing & renewal

• Paid plans are subscriptions billed in advance and renew automatically each period until you cancel.
• Current prices and plan limits are on the pricing page. Paid usage quotas are enforced per account.
• You can cancel anytime; access continues to the end of the period you've already paid for, then reverts to the free tier.
• We may change prices or plan features going forward, with notice to active subscribers before a change affects them. Changes don't affect a period you've already paid for.

Refunds are handled under our refund policy.

6. Third-party AI providers

When you send a message, your prompt and the relevant note excerpts are transmitted to an AI provider. With your own key, the Claude Code CLI, or a self-hosted endpoint, they go directly from the plugin to that provider. On the paid subscription, they are proxied through our backend, which forwards them to the provider and stores and logs them. Those providers operate under their own terms and privacy policies, which we don't control. Exactly what we receive, store, and log on each path is set out in our privacy policy.

7. Your content

Your notes stay yours. The plugin operates on your vault under your instruction; you're responsible for the content you process and for keeping your own backups. On the paid subscription we do receive and store the prompts and note excerpts you send through our backend; on every other path that content never reaches us. 8. Availability & changes

We provide the service on a best-effort basis and may update, suspend, or discontinue features at any time. Because the service depends on Obsidian and third-party models, changes on their side may temporarily or permanently affect functionality.

9. Disclaimer & liability

The service is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind, express or implied. AI output can be wrong — review anything important before relying on it. To the maximum extent permitted by law, we are not liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages, or for loss of data, arising from your use of the service. Nothing here limits liability that cannot be limited under applicable law.

10. Termination

You can stop using the service and delete your account at any time. We may suspend or terminate access if these terms are seriously or repeatedly breached. Provisions that by their nature should survive termination (e.g. liability, acceptable use) continue to apply.

11. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms from time to time. The current version is always posted here with the date above. For material changes affecting subscribers, we'll notify you by email before they take effect. Continuing to use the service after a change means you accept the updated terms.
